The Be-Loved Project

Nov. 30, 2006 - Trusting my Thighs and the Little Things

Another day in the canyon was devoted to exploring a dry creek bed. This was my "microcosmic" day. I discovered that my usual proclivity to climb to the highest spot, around every bend, driving myself to see more and go further was in abeyance. The caves and heights that always beckoned me, and still did catch my attention, were not on my body's agenda. Whenever there was a big step up a rock, I just couldn't follow through because of a recently broken wrist and not trusting the strength of my thighs to pull me up. But it wasn't only that, because I could easily visualize high-stepping up on a rock without my left hand, but my body just wouldn't let me try. I finally realized and said to myself, "NO. I don't always have to be on the top. Wherever I am is perfect and all levels are involved in learning." I went into the SMALL.

While sitting in a little sandy spot in the dry river bed, for example, I noticed 12 varieties of tiny plants within touching distance and lovingly observed them in detail. Six were directly at my cross-legged feet. Once I got to an obvious waterfall place and thought it would be easy for any of the caretakers who live here to climb up those rocks, but I just couldn't even try. I turned towards the canyon walls and thought I'd climb up and over the waterfalls, but couldn't even do that either. So, I started back and was called to pay attention to the little things. The lighting changes and everything looks new when you walk from a different direction and at a later time of day. I thoroughly enjoyed finding new niches, dried bones I hadn't seen before, and different pathways through the rocks. I wondered whether someone could tune into the rocks and the energy field shift of those I had stepped on while I went up and be able to follow my invisible trail? Perhaps indigenous trackers could. The "invisibles"-- what's behind, within and between everything in nature-- were beckoning and nurturing me.

No more HIGH-STEPPING for me right now, I'm going in to the microcosm. It's peaceful and rich. Just like in business, too, we need some team members who want to climb the mountaintops and others who want to work at other levels, even in the little cracks. But, no matter what, we have to be in our senses and aware of what is going on at whatever level we are perceiving. An infinite number of perceptions, and therefore thoughts, make for great diversity and opportunities for acceptance and cooperation. Love and blessings to all.

You really are going through a change Paula. I'm noticing metaphors in all your experiences that you are writing about.
