I once read that in Europe when a man sees a beautiful woman they say, "How salty!" Not "How sweet" as we would say in the US.
Sweet, sweet, sweet. Sweet has taken over everything! Last week I was in a grocery store cosmetic department and almost all the hand lotions, bath products, and colognes were scented with something sweet: mango, strawberry, cherry pie, vanilla. Why would anyone want to smell like vanilla or cherry pie???? Have we become so addicted to sweet that we now want to smell like it? Of course I have never found anyone who thinks my scratch and sniff garlic earrings are nice, or even funny.
In the 1950s and 1960s a dozen medium muffins called for 2 or 3 tablespoons of sugar. Today a recipe that makes a dozen muffins calls for a cup or cup and a half of sugar. There are 16 tablespoons in a one cup measure, that is a huge increase in our sugar consumption and desire.
How sweet is this? It's bad, really bad. Read why in my new book: The Anger Cure: A Step-by-Step Plan for Reducing Anger, Rage, Negativity, Violence, and Depression in Your Life. TheCarrotLady
